The TUD is one of the largest technical universities in Germany. In LIFE LOCAL ADAPT the Chair of Meteorology and the European Project Center work together in the management and implementation of the project.
The Chair of Meteorology was founded in 1954 with an emphasis on climate research at landscape level. Today it is part of the Institute of Hydrology and Meteorology at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences. The 25-30 staff members work in different research areas:
- Regional climate and climate change
- Water and carbon balance
- Land use and feedback to climate
- Development of measurement methods
The European Research Center (EPC) offers advice and support for EU funding programs. The team of experts has knowledge and experience in the acquisition of third-party funds and the implementation of corresponding projects. The team is financed exclusively by the third-party funds raised. The EPC provides information and advice on European programmes for scientific funding, training and cooperation with third countries. Additionally, it draws attention to European structural funds. The EPC team has a wide range of core competence in EU funding policy and a lot of experience in implementing individual programmes and measures. In addition, the team has expertise in administrative project management. Thus, project ideas can be successfully implemented.

Christian Bernhofer has been Senior Professor at the Chair of Meteorology at Dresden University of Technology since 2021. His research areas are regional climate change, water and carbon budgets, influence of landscape heterogeneity on surface currents and their measurement methods. Christian Bernhofer was the project leader of LIFE LOCAL ADAPT and chair of the scientific steering group.

Majana Heidenreich is hydrologist and research associate at the Chair of Meteorology at TUD. She has many years of experience in the research areas regional climate, climate change and climate adaptation. In the LIFE LOCAL ADAPT, she was responsible for the preparation and provision of data and information on climate change and adaptation for Saxonian municipalities. Furthermore, she is involved in project management.

Valeri Goldberg is research associate at the Chair of Meteorology at TUD. His work focuses on regional climate diagnosis and urban climate. In the LIFE LOCAL ADAPT, he was working on the investigation of the effects of heat extremes on urban climate and the derivation of adaptation measures.

Rico Kronenberg is research associate at the Chair of Meteorology at TUD. His work focuses on the Regional Climate Information System ReKIS. In the project LIFE LOCAL ADAPT, he was working on the provision of current climate data from observations and climate models as well as the development of ReKIS kommunal.
